Cardinal Baseball has a six week fall season starting September 1. The fall season consists of practices, inter-squad scrimmages and scrimmages vs. northern Minnesota community college teams.
The annual Florida spring trip takes place in early March with the team traveling to play teams in the Tampa and Orlando areas. The week-long spring trip consists of practice time and 10 games against community college and small four-year college teams. After returning from the spring trip, the Cards will play a non-conference schedule with games in Iowa, Wisconsin, South Dakota or Southern Minnesota leading up to conference play in April.
HCC competes in the Northern Division of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference with Itasca, Mesabi Range, Rainy River and Vermillion.
Weight training and throwing program beings in September and continues through December. The Cards began using the Driveline Throwing Program the fall of 2016 with impressive success. On average, players increased their throwing velocity by 6.6 mph. Players also displayed better arm health and recovery time after throwing. Weight room training and conditioning is required during the late fall and winter months of the school year.
